A way of life born from African royalty.

The Akan People and the Art of Wood

For millennia, the Akan people of
Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana have developed
exceptional expertise in wood carving.
Each object created carries deep meaning
— spiritual, royal, and cultural.

The Akan Royal Stool

The Akan stool is much more than a simple
object. It is the supreme symbol of royal
power and ancestral wisdom.

According to Akan tradition:

- It represents the soul of the chief and his people
- It is passed down from generation to generation
- It symbolizes continuity and strength
- It is the most precious object in a royal household

It is this powerful symbol that Maison Klanmanh
has chosen as its signature — so that each
piece carries the nobility and wisdom
of the Akan people.

Akan Motifs

Each motif engraved on our pieces tells
a story:

- Geometric motifs — represent
  harmony and balance
- Repeated friezes — symbolize
  continuity and eternity
- Interlacing — expresses
  the interconnectedness of all things
- The central stool — asserts
  nobility and leadership

Our Creation Process

1. Selection of noble woods
We select only noble woods —
   walnut, teak, rosewood —
   chosen for their beauty, durability
   and natural nobility.

2. Hand carving
   Each piece is hand-carved by
artisans trained in the Akan tradition.
No two pieces are identical — each
   is unique.

3. Motif engraving
   Ancestral motifs are engraved with
   precision, respecting the visual codes
   passed down for generations.

4. Gold leaf gilding
   Gold details are hand-applied —
   enhancing each motif with a
   royal and luxurious glow.

5. Quality control
   Each piece is carefully inspected
   before joining your home.
